Knowing your customer’s payment behaviour and its trend
Changes in payment performance constitutes one of the earliest signals of
possible financial difficulty and represents one of the most predictive elements
of the likelihood of failure before the filing of official documentation such
as a balance sheet.
Each year, via the Dun-Trade® Program, D&B collects millions of trading payment
experiences from participants to this program in order to analyse the payment
performance of companies. The results of this analysis are represented by the
D&B Payment Score which reflects how the subject company pays its bills.

The black line represents the payment performance of this company. It
went bankrupt in March, an event that D&B predicted months before.
This data represents an exclusive insight into the up to the minute
trading performance of a business as the data is collected systematically on
a monthly basis from companies operating in a broad variety of commercial
sectors. In addition to providing an assessment of the payment performance
of a particular business, this methodical and robust analysis facilitates
the comparison of payment performance by industry sectors.
Payment data is available in all
D&B
Business Information Reports, from the essential days beyond terms
figure in our D&B Compact Reports to industry payment comparisons in our D&B
